Liam Abraham on Framlingham Town's winning run in the Thurlow Nunn League First Division North

Liam Abraham says he is delighted with the response his Framlingham Town side have produced after losing back-to-back games.

The Castlemen were sitting top of the Thurlow Nunn League First Division North at the start of November, before slipping to consecutive defeats at home against Norwich CBS and Heacham.

But since losing 2-1 to title rivals Heacham, Fram have embarked on another winning run, with Saturday’s 4-2 victory over Swaffham Town at Badingham Road a fourth triumph on the spin.

Abraham’s side are two points off the summit with two games in hand ahead of a trip to an in-form AFC Sudbury Reserves tomorrow (3pm), and the Fram boss believes the pair of defeats have been used as a valuable reset for his promotion chasers.

“It’s going well again,” Abraham said. “We had the two defeats when we played CBS and Heacham and that hurt us.

“But, and I said to people around us at the time, it was probably needed and it was a bit of a reality check.

“It will bring us back down to earth and it’s got us going again. The reaction has been great.

“We’ve had four wins on the bounce and a couple of good victories as well last week, scoring eight goals, so it’s been positive.

“There’s a long way to go. We’ve got some really tough teams who we haven’t played like Harwich. They seem to be on a real good run of form.

“We’ve got Sudbury (reserves) this Saturday and they’ve won five on the bounce as well, so we’ve got to play some top quality teams. There’s a long way to go and we’re only just over halfway into the season.

“The only positive is other teams have to play the top teams as well!”

On Saturday, the Castlemen raced into a 3-0 lead by half-time with a brace from the recently-returning Will Aldis and a header from top goalscorer Max Willett.

The visitors Swaffham pulled two goals back after the break through Kieran Bruce to get back into the game, before Willett netted his second, and 16th of the season, to secure all three points.

“It was a game I thought we did really well in for the large majority,” Abraham said. “There were lots of positives going forward and we looked really good in attack.

“All in all it’s been really positive. We were disappointed as a group to concede the second so quickly after the first, but we’ve been working well at both ends this year.”

Abraham is hoping to welcome back Alex Ling (quad) from injury this weekend, while Cyrus Thorpe (Achilles) was expected to return to training this week after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

After sitting out last weekend, Diss Town (13th) resume their First Division North campaign at home against Needham Market Under-23s tomorrow (3pm).

Elsewhere, Debenham LC (17th) picked up their first point under new manager Jason Cook with a 0-0 draw away at Holbeach United on Saturday.

The Hornets played the last half an hour with 10 men after Bradley Austin was sent off.

Debenham host third-placed Harwich & Parkeston at Friends Meadow tomorrow (3pm).
