Harleston Ladies Circle is looking to expand its good work in the local area.
The Pink Ladies Tractor Run has been the latest beneficiary of fundraising efforts by Harleston Ladies Circle.
The group presented a £400 cheque to the Pink Ladies, who have raised more than £1 million for the Breast Cancer Appeal since starting out 20 years ago, on Tuesday.
Harleston Ladies Circle chairman Lizzy Pegg described it as a privilege to raise money for the cause.
“In May and July, Harleston Ladies Circle was given the privilege of raising money for the Pink Ladies Tractor Run.
“We raised the funds mainly through a bingo event at The Cap in Harleston and running a stall at the Harleston Sancroft Primary Academy school fete.
“We were delighted to be able to present £400 to Pink Ladies founder Annie Chapman, who was chairman of the ladies circle back in 1981 and 1982.
“She was really happy to be able to pay us a visit and thanked us all for our hard work. She told us it was great to see a local group supporting the fight against breast cancer.”
Harleston Ladies Circle is a group aimed at women aged 18 to 45 who wish to meet, socialise, enjoy activities together and support good causes.
The circle is currently recruiting new members, and has had a busy summer of fundraising – even picking up three awards from Ladies Circle UK for best publicity campaign, most new members in a year and the prestigious circle of the year title.
“We are now one of the biggest and most successful circles and we have a motto of friendship, fundraising and fun,” said Miss Pegg.
“We are hoping to build on our success in Harleston by starting a new group in Diss soon.”
