Attleborough sees 350 new homes planned at approved site just off Norwich Road
Hundreds more new homes could soon be built in Attleborough, according to plans released by a development company
Clarion Housing Group has outlined details of the project on its website, in which it claims to be putting together a planning application for 349 “high-quality, private and affordable homes that are designed to reflect the local character and neighbourhood”.
Outline planning permission is already in place for the northern-most half of the proposed site, on land just off Norwich Road, with the other half set to be the subject of a new application in the coming months.
A Clarion spokesman said: “Our revised scheme would increase the amount of affordable housing from 20 per cent to 35 per cent and will be within the parameters of previous applications for the site, which were approved.”
The new build, if approved, would create a mixture of different homes, interspersed with green spaces for leisure and recreation.
Tree-lined footpaths and children’s play areas are part of the plans, as are planting schemes involving trees, hedgerows, shrubs and wildflowers.
While consultees and residents of the town are yet to have the opportunity to officially comment on the plans, informal responses have been offered on social media.
Michelle Hunter said: “We don’t want more houses – if we wanted large towns or cities, we would have moved there. Leave us alone.”
Richard Wyatt added: “It’s time they became aware of the chaotic mess they are causing. The infrastructure cannot cope.”
While Sandie Boardman said: “I hope these houses come with wellies or a canoe ... it’s a flood plain.”
