Hop-picking event at Redgrave's Star Wing Brewery
More than 300 people took part in a popular hops ‘n’ hogs event at the Star Wing Brewery in Redgrave at the weekend.
The day kicked off on Saturday and was spent hop-picking in the picturesque surroundings, where once a red sawmill stood.
“There’s a real sense of community in everyone coming together,” said brewery manager David Upton.
“Friends, families, neighbours, young and old, green-fingered or not, it really is a great day for everyone to get involved and enjoy mucking in.”
The annual event gave people a chance to get together and gain insight into how the brewery’s ales are made.
“There’s something hugely appealing about returning to our rural past and uniting people from across the country in a simple activity such as hop-picking,” added Mr Upton.
“The picturesque surroundings of our brewery with amazing views of Redgrave church certainly add to the pastoral charm.”
After a busy afternoon, pickers enjoyed a hearty hog roast, live music and, of course, beer made from the hops grown from the very soil on which the brewery stands: Gospel Oak, Stainglass Blue, Spire Light and Four Acre Arcadia.
