Broadband outage in Long Stratton could be resolved after cable damaged during works

Residents have faced nearly a week without broadband after a cable was damaged — but repairs are now close to completion.

The issue was first reported on Saturday after a cable was struck during work on the Long Stratton bypass.

The affected areas include Long Stratton, Tasburgh and Swainsthorpe.

An Openreach spokesman said the repairs are expected to be completed by tomorrow.

They said: "Our engineers have assessed the damage to our network and found that 300m of cable needs to be repaired.

“We have temporary traffic lights installed so that we can complete the work safely and get customers reconnected as quickly as possible.

“Thank you to residents for their patience — we understand how frustrating it is to be without broadband."
