A former editor of the Diss Express has gone from papers to pet food in a radical career change.
Steven Penny maybe familiar to readers as the man in charge of the paper between 2005 and 2010.
He moved on to the Press Association, a news agency, but was made redundant last year. It proved to be the catalyst for a new direction completely.
With his partner Jan Pinder, Mr Penny, 50, has now launched the pet food company Husse Norfolk and Suffolk, with the Diss Express area one of his key markets.
He said: “I hit the big 5-0 last year and, when we heard I was being made redundant, we thought now was the time to work for ourselves together in something we enjoy doing.”
The service also includes free home delivery.
Husse (pronounced Hoo-say) is a Swedish pet food brand, which has been on the continent for 28 years.
“It is the market leader in many countries but has only recently been introduced to England,” said Mr Penny, who has undergone intensive training for his career switch.
The food’s selling point is its make-up of natural ingredients.
