Diss Ladies achieve their target of Premier Division consolidation
After spending seven seasons out of the Empresa Norfolk Women’s Hockey League Premier Division, Diss Hockey Club marked their return in 2019/20 with a highly respectable sixth-placed finish.
Speaking to the Express back in September ahead of the campaign getting under way, manager Lindsay Cates challenged her side to embark on a term of consolidation.
And they duly delivered upon that target as a good start got them off on a positive footing.
Injuries and some last-minute defeats made it a tricky period either side of Christmas, but they recovered and two wins from their last three games, before the coronavirus pandemic ended the season a round early, pushed them back up to sixth.
Cates said: “I was really pleased with the performance from the team this season.
“With many players having to adapt to different positions to cover injuries, it showed what a great can-do attitude the team possesses.
“Next season’s aim is to consolidate and strive to achieve a top four place.”
