Manager delighted after Diss Town battle back to beat Thurlow Nunn League First Division North's basement side
Diss Town manager Jon Abbott has described Saturday's 2-1 victory over Thurlow Nunn League First Division North bottom side Wisbech St Mary as 'one of the most pleasing wins all season'.
Corey Kingston, who helped to dump the Tangerines out of the Buildbase FA Vase with Huntingdon Town earlier in the campaign, scored the only goal of the first half at Brewers Green Lane to send the visitors into the break in the ascendancy.
An Aarron Taylor header drew Diss level after the restart, but with Alex McIntosh red carded, it seemed that the 10-man Tangerines would have to settle for a point.
However, with just two minutes of the 90 remaining, midfielder Matt Cook popped up to score the winning goal and move Abbott's men up to third in the process.
Abbott said: "We showed a different side to our game and it was probably one of the most pleasing wins all season.
"Looking at the league table, everyone would have expected us to win but like I said last week, Wisbech have improved a lot.
"We were one down, a man down and not playing particularly well, but we have found a way to win and that is massive.
"Six or seven months ago there is no way we would have come back in that situation. It is three important points."
Next up for Diss is a trip to second-placed Mulbarton – who are four points ahead with a game in hand – on December 28 (3pm).
