Athletes off to a promising start to the new season
Diss Athletics Club athletes enjoyed a promising start to the summer season at the Eastern Young Athletics League competition in Ipswich.
Douglas Charles got the team under way in the under-13 boys category with a time of 18.3 seconds in the 100m and a throw of 3.52m in the shot put.
In the under-15s boys, Guy McGarr ran 15.2 seconds in the 100m and achieved a distance of 3.97m in the long jump, while Trea Renaut-Buttle (under-17s) ran 14.2 seconds in the 100m and jumped 1.25m in the high jump.
In the same age group, Chloe Robinson achieved a distance of 3.28m in the long jump on debut, while Indigo Johnson threw a personal best of 7.57m in the shot put, 18.92m in discus and 19.94m in the hammer throw.
Meanwhile, Alex Gooch (under-17 boys) ran 14.0 seconds in the 100m, 22.4 seconds in the 100m hurdles and threw 18.59m in the javelin event.
