The Pink Ladies’ Tractor Run sets off tomorrow through south Norfolk and north Suffolk

Nearly 200 women are all set for a popular charity tractor run tomorrow.

Now in its 20th year, the Pink Ladies’ Tractor Run on Sunday will see participants drive a 20-mile route through south Norfolk and north Suffolk on a convoy of tractors decorated in pink.

Last year, they raised £201,000, pushing the total raised to over £1 million in aid of Cancer Research UK’s breast cancer appeal.

Organisers have confirmed that 194 women have already signed up to take part this year.

One of those, Kath Jones, will be taking part for the eighth year.

“I have followed the Pink Ladies’ Tractor Run since it started in 2004,” she said.

“I remember seeing the first run go passed my mum’s house in Pulham St Mary. There were only about 20 or 30 tractors then.

“I first did the run in 2017 after collecting for the event. The cause is such a worthy one and we all knew someone who had been affected by cancer.

“Two friends of mine had recently been diagnosed with breast cancer so that also inspired me to get involved and raise funds.

“I borrow a red 1967 Massey Ferguson 135 and the theme of my tractor decoration is pink cuddly toys.”

The route starts at Thorpe Abbotts airfield before heading to Brockdish and Upper Weybread, arriving in Harleston at about 12.30pm, before stopping for lunch between 1pm and 3pm at Gawdy Hall Meadow, Redenhall.

The route back to the airfield passes through Pulham St Mary, Rushall and Langmere Green.
