Diss Swim Centre’s main swimming pool shut due to technical fault

A technical fault has forced the closure of a leisure centre’s main swimming pool — leading to the cancellation of classes and sessions.

Diss Swim Centre, in Victoria Road, has apologised for the disruption on social media today as it remains unclear how long the pool will be shut for.

A spokesperson for South Norfolk and Broadland District Councils, which runs the facility, confirmed the fault was identified quickly and work is under way to fix it.

“It’s one of those things we have to act on,” they said. “We know what the problem is and we’re resolving it — but safety has to come first.”

“We are hoping the pool will reopen within the next few days.”

In the meantime, Swim School lessons have been moved to the Learner Pool and parents will be contacted if their child’s session is affected.

The Learner Pool remains open for Family Swims and other activities with additional sessions added from 1.30pm to 2.30pm and 2.30pm to 3.30pm.
