Diss Sixth Form business students put together charity auction for East Anglia’s Children Hospices

A group of Diss Sixth Form students have organised a charity auction to raise money for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

The six students from the Walcot Road site are studying for a BTEC Diploma in Business and organising and managing an event is a part of their final coursework.

The students have to do everything from liaising with site staff to booking the venue, contacting local business and organising publicity.

Sam Budds, the teacher in charge of the event, said she was very proud of what the students had put together.

“These are all very important skills in the real world of event management and they have risen to the challenge admirably,” she added.

“They have gone to businesses and larger companies across East Anglia as well as parents and staff in order to seek donations and create some fantastic lots.”

Highlights include Christmas hampers of seasonal food and drink, hair and beauty and fitness vouchers as well as vouchers from many other local businesses and lots of other gifts.

At the auction, which will be in the school’s library tomorrow, from 6.30pm, an auctioneer from Gazes Auction House in the town will conduct proceedings.
