Pulham St Mary prepares for world-class classical concert with only a few tickets remaining
Pulham St Mary is preparing for world-class classical concert on Tuesday and Wednesday - with only a few tickets remaining
Pulham St Mary The Virgin Church has been chosen as one of three churches around the country to host a concert as part of the Music in Country Churches initiative.
Music in Country Churches was founded in 1989, with the support of the Prince of Wales, with the aim of bringing top class musicians to country churches of recognised beauty and importance.
On July 23 and 24, the English Chamber Orchestra and the Choir of the King’s Consort will perform at the church to around 300 people. There are still a limited number of tickets left for the Wednesday performance and even fewer for Tuesday's.
The concert will include:
A celebration of strings from the Baroque to the Romantic:
J.S. Bach Concerto for Two Violins in D minor BWV 1043
J.C. Bach Harpsichord Concerto in D major Op.1 No 6
Stamitz Mannheim Symphony No.2 in A major
Mozart Divertimento for Strings in B flat major K137
Tchaikovsky Serenade for Strings in C major Op.48
“We applied to the project jointly with Starston Church and the concert will raise money towards both our funds,”said one of the co-ordinators, Tim Webster.
"We have created a car park and also carried out some restoration work in preparation."
St Mary's will seat nearly 300 people.
The medieval building has also had its porch glass windows renovated and new lead fitted.

There are four levels of price depending on location in the church, ranging from £8 to £28.
