Two Magpies Bakery spreads its wings to 10th site with Framlingham opening
A new bakery – set to take on the former Barclays Bank building in Framlingham – is set to open tomorrow.
Two Magpies Bakery and Cafe is opening its new Market Square site, which will be the company’s tenth site.
The new bakery will be the largest in the group, at more than 3,000 square feet, and joins Norwich, Blakeney, Holt, Woodbridge, Wells-next-the-Sea, Beccles, Aldeburgh, Darsham and Southwold.
Steve Magnall, owner and chief executive of the Two Magpies Group, said: “We often have lovely emails and letters from people all over East Anglia asking when we will be coming to their town and many of those have come from Framlingham.
“We have been truly humbled by all the well wishers and the many positive messages of support we have had already.
“Our staff, and most of our customers, are local and we try, wherever we can, to use local produce, so I am delighted to be opening another branch in one of our beautiful Suffolk towns.”
Two Magpies Group started out in Southwold’s High Street in 2012, when it was launched by Rebecca Bishop.
Rebecca was bought out of the business last year and Mr Magnall is now the majority shareholder, with finance director Sarah Healey Pearce and Steve’s father as minority shareholders in the business.
The development of the new Framlingham site comes hot on the heels of the refurbishment of the firm’s Darsham bakery and cafe, which also serves as its Bake School.
Yasmin Wyatt, operations director and minority shareholder in the group, said: “It has been a busy year and we’re only three months into it.
“What really makes all the hard work worthwhile is reading the comments from both our present and our future customers every time we open a new bakery and cafe.
“They have always been so positive and supportive. Who knows where the next bakery will be; one thing is for sure, though, it will be coming soon, and to a town near you.”
