New Christmas home for old dog Louie from Dogs Trust in Snetterton

One of a dog’s home charity’s oldest gentlemen has found his forever home for Christmas.

Louie the Staffie has spent more than 340 days in the care of the Dogs Trust at Snetterton after coming into their care in November 2023.

Louie was often overlooked by potential adopters due to his age and medical needs. With most dogs spending no more than a couple of months in the care of the charity, Louie watched many of his canine friends go on to be rehomed, but he had very little interest from adopters.

With arthritis meaning he would need more medical care than a younger dog, and with a few more grey hairs than his younger counterparts, many people who came to the centre would after look past his youthful nature.

But in October, Louie’s dreams came true when James from Cambridgeshire came forward to offer him a home and he will now be spending Christmas taking naps on his sofa.

James said: “Louie seems to be quite at home now. We play lots of games, he follows me everywhere, loves to mooch around the garden, gives me lots of licks and sleeps on my bed at night.

“I must admit that when I found out he was 11 and arthritic, I expected him to be a slow old coach, but he wants to play like a puppy! However, we are getting on fine together.

“I’m really happy to give Louie a loving home in time for Christmas, giving him a nice space to curl up with some treats.”
