Diss Mere works underway with pathway closed off

Work to recondition sleepers around the mouth of the Mere in Diss began on Wednesday.

The work is expected to take two weeks and, according to Diss Town Council , “every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum and access routes clear”.

Despite these efforts, the path linking the Mere to the park may have to be temporarily closed.

The refurbishment of the sleepers is part of a larger planned upgrade, which includes work on the toilets, which began on July 27, and some resurfacing of the Mere’s mouth.

Work on the toilets will last 10 weeks and, while one of the paths leading to the park may be closed, all business around the Mere’s mouth will remain open and access points are available.

The toilets in Diss Park are also still open, from 10am to 4pm.
