Farmer issues reward for information on straw barn fire
A Winfarthing farmer has put up a reward for information on a devastating straw barn fire that happened at his farm on Saturday.
Fire crews from Diss, East Harling, Harleston, Hethersett, Long Stratton, Watton and Wymondham were called to Lodge Farm, in Lodge Drive, at around 4am.
Eric Cole said in a statement today:"We as a family would like to thank Norfolk Fire Service for the many appliances that attended.
"Whilst they could not save the barn, about 1,000 tonnes of straw, our combine and a tractor, they saved two gas tanks and a building housing 100 heads of cattle including cows and calves.
"The damage is estimated between £800,000 and £1 million.
"As a result of forensic investigations by the police and our insurers the probable cause of the fire is arson.
"We are offering a £2,500 for information leading to the successful prosecution of the person or persons responsible."
