Diss Brownies star badge collector earns gold award for her efforts
A 10-year-old girl has been described as an “inspiration to others” after out-performing her peers.
Chloe Suppiah is the first member of Diss Brownies to achieve a gold award since the accreditation was created in 2018.
The youngster received the award in recognition of her “commitment and participation in activities and challenges, and efforts to gain badges while at home”.
Having amassed dozens of badges, Chloe said: “I have loved working my way through the badges over the years and learning new skills. It has been fun getting all my family involved, too.”
The group has been meeting online for much of this year, but the lack of face-to-face contact has not held back dedicated brownies like Chloe.
Helen Bowman, a tawny owl with the group, said: “We are thrilled to have presented our first gold award, and we hope it will be the first of many.
“It is such a difficult standard to reach, but Chloe has worked so hard on her badges and is a real inspiration to other aspiring brownies.
“We’re looking forward to returning to our weekly face-to-face meetings in 2021, and are already seeing lots of interest from families in the area.
“Now, more than ever, it is vitally important to work together and to communicate to get through these difficult times.”
