Attleborough's Buddhist Centre celebrates its faith and invites members of the public
The power of meditation and the traditions of Buddhism were celebrated at the weekend.
The Amoghasiddhi Kadampa Buddhist Centre in Attleborough welcomed people through its doors for an open day on Saturday, with visitors able to take part in taster sessions and a tour of the building.
Having opened in 2004, the centre, in Queen’s Square, offers weekly meditation classes, retreats and events, such as meal nights.
Kelsang Norpel, the site’s administration director, who was ordained as a Buddhist monk in 2010, said that meditation can have a positive effect on everyday life.
“Adding meditation to our lives is invaluable,” he said. “We live in a modern society, and with that comes outwardly stress and pressure.
“Meditation takes us away from all that and develops stillness in our minds – and that can only be a good thing for all.”
He said the day had been a big success.
“The centre is based on people – and without them, we are nothing,” he said. “So a big thank you to everyone who took part.”
