Students at Attleborough Academy received a taste of the journalism lifestyle last week as they helped to create news for the international BBC School News Report scheme.
For the sixth year running, pupils from Year 7 through to Year 10, researched events and put together news articles and films which were uploaded to their dedicated web page, linking with the BBC across the world in an annual News Day last Thursday.
Working with teachers Ms Jones, Ms Taylor and Mrs McConnell and supported by BBC staff, the students produced news on national stories, such as migration, Sport Relief and the US election, plus local stories, like the school’s own cultural link project with Amber Primary School in Islington.
Ms Jones, head of Drama, said: “It is fantastic to see the students working independently and under pressure.
“It is also wonderful to see the Year 10s working in a mentoring role with younger students.”
English teacher Ms Taylor added: “We are astounded by the dedication and interest exhibited by our students.”
