Death of woman after collision in Silver Street, Besthorpe, prompts appeal




An appeal for witnesses has been launched after a collision in Besthorpe, which saw a woman died due to her serious injuries.

The incident, on Monday at around 11.35am, happened in Silver Street where when a white Ford Fiesta ST left the road and collided with a grass bank.

Emergency services, including fire and ambulance, arrived at the scene where a woman, in her 60s, was taken to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital with life threatening injuries.

She has since died as a result of these injuries.

The driver, a man in his 80s, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving.

He was taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning. He has since been released under investigation.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or witnessed the manner of driving prior to the incident.
