Weekend road closures planned as part of new Long Stratton bypass works

A key route will be closed this weekend for essential works key to a new bypass.

To enable essential tie-in works for both the northern and southern connections of the existing A140 to the new Long Stratton bypass, two weekend closures are planned.

A full closure of the A140 Norwich Road to the north of the town, between St Michael’s Road and Brands Lane, starts at 8pm today and runs until 6am on July 7.

A second weekend closure is planned from 8pm on July 25-6am on July 28.

The closures will enable tie-in works for the northern roundabout connection to the new bypass.

A further weekend closure to start the southern tie-in at the opposite end of the scheme is planned for the first weekend of August. This closure will also mean a full closure of the A140 near Oakside Farm.

Further information on exact timings will be advertised in advance but the official signed diversion route for all closures will be via Loddon and Bungay on the A47/A146/A143 and vice versa.

Bus services will be affected by the closures. Passengers are advised to check before they travel and allow additional time for journeys.

Once the weekend works are complete sections of the new bypass will be used to divert traffic around the existing A140 while other essential works, at Church Lane and Parkers Lane, are carried out.

The work will be carried out by Octavius Infrastructure.
