Big band swings in with wartime hits
The Jonathan Wyatt Big Band will visit Diss Corn Hall with its wartime hits show, Sweethearts of Swing.
It will feature the music of The Glenn Miller Orchestra, The Andrews Sisters, Flanagan and Allen and Vera Lynn.
Sweethearts of Swing is a commemoration of the music, singers and bands who kept up morale during both world wars.
The band, who celebrated their 30th anniversary last year, have played for TV shows, celebrity parties and Gala performances and are described as East Anglia’s premier big band.
They will be joined by swing vocalists Stephen and Paul Amer and the band’s own vocal harmony trio The Moonglow Sisters.
Jonathan Wyatt said that the band are really looking forward to appearing at the venue.
“We love Sweethearts of Swing because it really allows us to play some fantastic music, from instrumentals by the great band leaders of the time, such as Glenn Miller and Count Basie, to some of the best songs by the great vocalists of the big band era,” he said.
The show takes place on Saturday, October 20, at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £18, or £16 for concessions, from the Corn Hall box office on 01379 652241, or online at www.thecornhall.co.uk.
