Christmas Cracker, a charity concert held in Permastore Sports and Social Club, Eye was a show case for local talent and a curtain raiser to the festive season.

Compere Peter Holloway, an all round entertainer, kept the action moving, adding his own comedy, music and magic in between the acts, including Yaxley hand bell ringers, the Three J’s, Joanne, Jemma and Jane, a young singing trio, and Charmaine Cooper who played a haunting flute solo and was also piano accompanist for Peter’s trumpet solo. Senior girls from Eye Do Dance showed their ability at various types of modern dancing while Joe Aiken, singer/songwriter with guitar accompaniment, was Eye’s equivalent of Ed Sheeran. The Singing Nuns received a great ovation for their contribution and Sue Harvey recited a thought provoking poem written by Joe. Norton’s Salvation Army band began and ended the programme with festive music with the audience joining in. This varied and entertaining evening was free, but the appreciative audience responded well to the bucket collection raising £560 to be divided between EACH and Norton Salvation Army. A Christmas arrangement donated by Forever Flowers was auctioned and raised £20. JANET CHAMBERS.
