Wright’s final woe

Peter Wright missed out yet again on lifting a major darts trophy as he suffered an agonising 8-7 defeat in a thrilling Zipang Casino Japan Darts Masters final to Phil Taylor in Yokohmama, japan on Sunday.
Having overcome Michael van Gerwen in a classic semi-final encounter, winning 8-7, the Mendham-based ace found himself on the brink of defeat in the final as Talyor raced into a 7-2 lead.
However, ‘Snakebite’ mounted a monumental fightback to draw level, keeping his title hopes alive and bring the 1,000-strong crowd to its feet.
But it was to prove not enough as ‘The Power’ took the deciding leg to clinch victory and condemn Wright to a fourth defeat in his fourth televised final.
