VIDEO: Watch Diss Express reporter Zach Ward challenge Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright at darts

Watch as Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright takes on the Diss Express’ own Zach Ward in a leg of darts, and sit down with sports reporter Alex Moss, just one week before the Mendham man begins his campaign for World Glory.

Journalists Alex and Zach went to visit the home of the man known as ‘Snakebite’ for a special two-page feature on his career, available in today’s print edition of the Diss Express.

But before the pair left, they challenge the former PDC World Finalist to a game of arrows.

After ‘Snakebite’ beat Alex off-camera in 12 darts, playing double in-double out and scoring 170, 100 and 99, before checking out 132 on the bullseye, it was Zach’s turn to take on the man who reached the final of the UK Open this year.

The Diss Express reporter started with 100, while Wright, playing double in-double out, missed his attempts at bullseye to get off in the leg, giving Zach an unlikely lead. However, once Snakebite was in, normal order was resumed, hitting a 140 in the process.

With Zach on 170, and Wright on 50, it appeared ‘Snakebite’ was going to give him a shot at the biggest checkout — deliberately throwing two darts off the board.

But his third found the dead centre of the bullseye to give him the win.

Defeated Zach said: “I’m a huge darts fan so to take on the fourth-ranked player in the world is a bit of a dream. It was a fantastic day and we both got a few pointers too!

“I’ve got tickets for the quarter finals for the World Championships on New Year’s Day, and Peter has told me he will be getting that far at least — I’m sure everyone in the Diss Express area will wish ‘Snakebite’ good luck at the tournament.”
