The field, which comprised of first-timers through to seasoned campaigners, took part in the Super Sprint – made up of a 160m swim, 17km cycle and a 3km off-road run.

On the Saturday it was Mark Smith of TriSudbury who triumphed, while Sunday’s victor was UEA Tri Alumni’s Tom Huband.

Junior athletes were also well catered for, with 100 children entering the Tri Star Aquathlons.

One of the chosen charity partners was Suffolk Accident Rescue Service, whose operation manager Ben Hall said: “What a fantastic event. It was inspiring to see so many people, particularly young children, taking part and enjoying the challenge.

“We were very pleased to be chosen as charity partner again this year and Suffolk Accident Rescue Service (SARS) would like to thank all the volunteers and staff who ensured the event ran smoothly.

“We would also like to give special thanks to all those participants who donated or helped raise money for SARS.

“We rely on voluntary donations to maintain our life-saving activity and your support is very much appreciated by everyone involved in our charity.”

Organisers also wanted to thank Spar (Stradbroke), Morrisons and Tesco (Diss) for their sponsorship of the refreshments.
