Scole United and Long Stratton play out a draw in the Hadley & Ottaway Anglian Combination Premier Division

Scole United claimed a credible 0-0 draw from Saturday’s trip to neighbouring Long Stratton in the Hadley & Ottaway Anglian Combination Premier Division on Saturday.

The game was a fairly scrappy affair with both teams cancelling each other out for large parts.

Scole, who were missing leading goalscorer Connor Kerry through injury, could not really get their passing game going against an extremely hard working and direct Stratton side.

Hosting Stratton just shaded a tight opening 45 minutes, while Scole could not capitalise from the home goalkeeper being sin-binned just before half-time.

After the interval Scole had a bit more of the ball and the tireless lone striker Brad Hunt was causing the home defence some headaches.

Josh Lucraft also had a couple of good efforts that needed to be saved but Scole could never relax with Stratton always looking dangerous on the break.

The result means that the two league games between the sides this term have ended in draws.

It leaves Stratton in second, while Scole are in seventh place ahead of tomorrow’s encounter against 11th-placed Bradenham Wanderers (2pm).

* In Division Five South, Scole United Reserves dished out an 8-0 hammering to their Poringland Wanderers Reserves counterparts.

Centre-back Lee Tricker was the hero for Scole’s second string as he helped himself to a hat-trick.

Harry Brookes and Harry Browne both contributed braces, while Harry Rolingson also added his name to the scoresheet.

Scole are level on points with league-leading Belton, with only an inferior goal difference keeping them off top spot.

The team is without a fixture this weekend and are due to return to action on November 24 when sixth-placed Easton Reserves will be their visitors (2pm).

In that game Scole will be aiming for their eighth league win of the season.
