Scole United back to winning ways in the Anglian Combination Premier Division by beating Blofield United

After back-to-back defeats in cup competitions, Scole United returned to winning ways in the Hadley & Ottaway Anglian Combination Premier Division on Saturday.

They beat Blofield United 3-2 on home soil – a result that leaves them in fourth and three points adrift of table-topping Caister with a game in hand.

Visiting Blofield started brightly, but once Scole gained a foothold on proceedings they created some good chances.

Connor Kerry, Josh Lucraft and Alex Blakely all spurned opportunities before Kerry broke the deadlock when he flicked in an Ashley Baxter corner.

The second half started in similar fashion and Scole duly doubled their lead when Ben Norton-Hugman tapped in for his first goal of the season.

Blofield pulled a goal back with 15 minutes remaining, but the two-goal lead was soon restored via Brad Hunt from a Blakely cross.

With time running out it looked as though Scole were going to run out comfortable winners, but the away team ensured it would be a nervy final few moments by scoring their second goal of the game.

However, their hopes of an equaliser were not helped by having a player sent to the sin bin, which helped Scole to see out the minutes that remained.

Next up for United tomorrow is a trip to Norwich CEYMS (2pm).

* In the Norfolk Junior Cup, Scole United Reserves were knocked out in the second round, losing 5-0 to higher-league Earsham.

* East Harling made it four Division One victories in a row by winning 2-1 away at Fakenham Town Reserves.

In a scrappy first half the visiting Greens took the lead through Jack Flynn’s sixth goal of the season.

And a second Flynn goal followed soon after to put East Harling in control.

The hosts pulled a goal back but Stacey Lawrence’s men held out ahead of tomorrow’s home encounter against UEA (2pm).
