Scole United get the better of Sheringham in the Hadley & Ottaway Anglian Combination Premier Division
Scole United returned to form in the Hadley & Ottaway Anglian Combination Premier Division with a 2-0 victory against Sheringham on Saturday.
Goalkeeper Kai Hewitt made a welcome return to the Scole starting line-up after missing five games through injury, and he was busy early on as Sheringham dominated proceedings.
Scole were lucky when the Shannocks managed to hit both the post and the crossbar in the same attack in the 19th minute, but this seemed be a wake up call for the home side.
They struck the woodwork themselves in the 15th minute via a Callum Brady header, with Josh Lucraft doing the same thing before the half was out.
In the second half, Scole started to dominate possession and Connor Kerry came close with a one-on-one.
Sheringham were still having chances and Hewitt had to be at his very best to keep a good effort out in the 51st minute.
However, just a few minutes later Scole got their noses in front.
Lucraft’s right-wing corner was won with a back post header from Adam Solley, who guided the ball back across the goal for Kerry to head in from close range.
And Kerry got his second with a fine finish after being put through by a defence splitting pass from Alex Blakely to seal the three points.
Scole, who occupy sixth spot in the table, travel to second-placed Long Stratton tomorrow (2pm).
* Scole United Reserves claimed maximum points from their trip to Thetford Rovers Reserves in Division Five South.
Brendan Head – firing in from 10 yards out – scored the game’s only goal midway through the second half to wrap up a 1-0 win.
