Harleston Town boss switches focus to a Hadley & Ottaway Anglian Combination Premier Division title challenge
After seeing his side bow out of the Norfolk Senior Cup last weekend, Harleston Town joint-manager Nicky Howell has now switched his focus to the Hadley & Ottaway Anglian Combination Premier Division title race.
Town, who were beaten 3-1 by higher-league Wroxham, are currently fourth – six points behind table-topping Waveney having played a game more.
It means things are currently out of Harleston’s hands, but Howell has challenged his players to put the pressure on between now and the end of the campaign.
“If we play like that (against Wroxham) every week, I cannot see us losing many games,” he said.
“But that is the key – making sure we play like that every week. Consistency has been our problem all season.
“We have turned up to some games and not been quite at it, which has shown in the results.
“We have been short at times and that is why we have signed a couple (Ollie Ebbage and Will Goulding) recently, but with those two now in, I am really looking for us to be pushing on and challenge.
“Waveney are six points ahead and there is a couple of teams around us, but if we can get a good run under our belts we can put on some real pressure.”
Tomorrow Harleston will be on their travels to 13th-placed Bradenham Wanderers (2pm) – a side that have lost their last three league games, conceding a hefty 14 goals in the process.
