Golden rush for Diss Otters
A team of nine Diss Otters made the most of their opportunity to make an impression at Great Yarmouth Swimming Club’s Development Gala at the UEA Sportspark in Norwich on Saturday.
The event is designed to give novice swimmers the chance to get some experience of competitive racing action, and it turned out to be a positive outing for everyone connected with the Otters.
In total the squad returned back to base with 13 gold medals to show for their collective efforts, as well as four silvers and a further nine bronzes.
The Diss Otters’ squad was made up of: Angus Betts, Freya Button, Grace Cook, Harrison Fall, Alex Jackson, Darcie Martin, Finlay Neve, Emma Neve and Heidi Noakes.
In addition, the club recently had two swimmers qualify for races at the ASA Eastern Regional Championships.
Matthew Munnings competed in the 50m and 100m butterfly and the 50m freestyle at the Norwich Gala, which was held over the May Day holiday weekend.
And that was followed up by club-mate Daniel Bachu, who competed in the 50m butterfly category at the Luton event.
