Fram pupils can be record breakers
Framlingham College Prep School are certainly making a racket in Suffolk when it comes to tennis, with the school now just a few away from a record 20 teams in the county finals.
An astonishing 17 teams have already booked their places at the Suffolk finals for their age groups, with three teams still waiting to play their qualification rounds.
And all are set for home advantage with Framlingham set to host the annual event on their school grounds.
The school has sides across each of the under-9 up to under-13 brackets for boys, girls and mixed teams. With around 120 children having weekly lessons, there is real strength in depth too with the school able to field up to three sides in each.
Of the 17 that have qualified, 10 are A teams and seven are B teams. In the U9 events, both A and B teams are through for Boys, Girls and Mixed events.
The school’s director of sport, Nick Gandy, said: “The impressive numbers are testament to how successful the tennis programme is here.
“The tennis offer is far from just providing performance coaching for the elite. It caters for a far wider spectrum of ability emphasising inclusion and depth that will outrival most schools. This in turn means more children are selected for matches and get the honour of representing us.”
