Diss Cricket Club beat Norfolk Cricket Alliance Division One leaders Hethersett & Tas-Valley in quick reverse fixture
Diss (219) exacted some swift revenge with a four-run win over league-leading Hethersett & Tas-Valley (215-8) on Saturday.
Seven days earlier, the Norfolk Cricket Alliance Division One table toppers had got the better of Diss on their own patch.
However, with Diss having the home comforts of Rectory Meadow in the quick reverse fixture last weekend, it was Mark Brawn’s side that edged a close encounter.
Batting first, opener Mark Williamson was Diss’ leading run scorer with his knock of 64 from 118 deliveries at the top of the order.
Numerous other batsmen came and went cheaply, although there was some crucial resistance from Rob Tooke, who added 42 runs to his side’s tally.
All-rounder Williamson also impressed with the ball as he recorded figures of 2-32, while Robert Lockwood (3-41) was the pick of the bowling attack as Diss just managed to keep the visitors at bay inside their permitted 50 overs.
The victory has seen second-placed Diss close the gap on Hethersett & Tas-Valley to five points with seven matches played.
Diss will now look to build on the momentum tomorrow when they travel to face sixth-placed Great Melton.
The home side will go into the contest having tasted defeat in three of their last four outings.
