COMPETITION: Win a book with limerick about area
As part of his upcoming show in Diss, comic, singer and songwriter John Hegley is asking readers to show off their wit and poetry skills.
Penning a limerick or poem about the local area could see you win a copy of his latest book, Peace, Love and Potatoes.
“The poem has to be engaging, moving, grooving, witty and not too long,” said Mr Hegley, who will perform at The Corn Hall.
“The topic is the local area, with a bit of love thrown in.”
An unpublished example of his own goes as follows:
In Diss, in the distance, I saw
a movement, and I was quite sure
that this very small dot
meant I needed to trot
or, I’d not be in Norwich by Four
Submissions can be sent to editorial@dissexpress.co.uk.
The deadline is noon on January 31 and winners will be announced in the Diss Express on February 7.
John’s show New and Selected Potatoes will take place on February 14 at 7.30pm.
“There is a lot of joining in and a bit of singing,” said the 66-year-old.
