Long Stratton Leisure Centre set for new solar panels and battery storage systems

Long Stratton Leisure Centre is about to become more energy efficient thanks to new eco upgrades.

South Norfolk Council is stepping up its green credentials by installing solar panels and battery storage systems at the centre.

The upgrades will make the facility more energy-efficient, reduce operational costs and deliver long-term savings.

Cllr Daniel Elmer, South Norfolk Council leader, said: “As a council we’re incredibly supportive of sustainable energy solutions that respect the district’s unique character.

“These improvements reinforce our commitment to achieving net zero and ensure our leisure centres remain environmentally and economically sustainable for years to come, without negatively impacting the local environment.”

At Long Stratton Leisure Centre, the new solar and battery systems build on existing green infrastructure, including an air source heat pump.

With the addition of solar generation and storage, the centre will become largely self-sufficient, producing clean, local energy and reducing reliance on the national grid.
