Couple delighted after Diss Windows and Electrical, in St Nicholas Street, gets off to a flying start

A couple are delighted after their business together has got off to a flying start.

Timea Gyori (known as Tilly) and Attila Koszti launched Diss Windows and Electrical, in St Nicholas Street, in May - and the work has started to pour in.

The business makes bespoke wooden windows, doors, bespoke furniture, made-to-order garden offices, summer houses and sheds. It also carries out electrical installations.

Tilly said: “We moved to Diss in 2018 and we absolutely love it.

“Attila had been working as a carpenter for 23 years and wanted to go self-employed. I have worked a few different places part-time, while our children were growing up, and also completing an English and history degree.

“When the opportunity arose in St Nicholas Street, we grabbed it as the premises also had a workshop. To make it more interesting we have also launched a gift shop at the front and people are welcome to let us know what kind of gifts they would like to see.”

The couple, originally from Hungary, have been together 21 years and celebrated their anniversary last weekend. Their work has so far taken them to Manchester and Norwich, building garden offices and bespoke summer houses.

Windows are also custom made with all the planning for the constructions done in-house.

Tilly said: “Our customers are all really lovely and have all been very interested in what we do. One of our latest projects is a log cabin, so it is already going really well. At our premises, I manage the workshop, where Attila works, and I also manage the shop front.

“I also worked at Diss Junior School running the breakfast club for a time. I love children and so we sell gifts and have a wishing ball, where children can wish for the kind of gifts they would like to see. At the moment we have pocket money items.”

Tilly says they love being part of the Diss community.

“We keep prices reasonable and are very community focused,” she said.

“We’re really happy. Thanks to everyone for their support.”
