Bunwell Street in Bunwell set for 11-week road closure to fix historic flood issues
A section of a village road is set to close for up to 11 weeks so work can be done to address historical flooding issues.
Bunwell Street in Bunwell will be temporarily closed to traffic between its junction with Mile Road and Hall Road to its junction with North Road from July 15.
The work will include the construction of a new drainage system after surveys of the historic drainage network found it was beyond serviceable repair.
Norfolk Highways said access for residents will be maintained during the works with signed diversion routes in place, although there may be some unavoidable temporary restrictions to frontages as the works progress, but these will be agreed in advance by the operatives on site.
Bus services inclusive of school services will also be diverted around the temporary closure as necessary and pedestrian access through the closure will also be maintained. Blue Light services will also be notified of the closure.
The work, which will cost £210,000, will be carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Community and Environmental Services Department and their contractors.
