UPDATED: Road reopened after overturned lorry cleared from A11 at Barton Mills
All the roads closed this morning after a lorry overturned and spilt its load of scrap metal on the A11 Fiveways roundabout near Barton Mills this morning have been reopened after five hours.
The accident, which happened at about 5.30am caused long delays on the A11 westbound London Road after the road was closed at Elveden Elveden. The driver of the Renault truck had to be freed by a fire crew but is thought to have had only minor injuries and was treated The entire roundabout was closed for the lorry recovery at about 9.30am, closing the A11 southbound, A1065 southbound at the junction of Thetford Road in Mildenhall and A1101 Mildenhall to Fiveways at the Thetford Road/ Brandon Road roundabout.
Traffic using the A1101 from Icklingham was allowed onto the A11 southbound through the Esso service station. The Little Chef stayed open in spite of having the lorry’s load f crushed cars and other scrap metal on its front lawn.
