UPDATED: Man in his 70s has died after falling into farm silo near Eye

A man in his 70s has died after falling into a silo, near Eye.

Police and firefighters were called to the scene in Hestley Green,at around 6pm last night following reports of an industrial incident at a farm.

The man has been named locally as farmer, John Edwards.

Nine fires engines were sent to the incident including appliances from Ipswich East, Woodbridge, Beccles, Eye, Elmswell and Lowestoft South.

Emergency services were present at the scene throughout the evening.

Nobody else was injured.

"Officers continue to investigate alongside colleagues from other organisations, including the Health and Safety Executive,” said a police spokesman.
