UPDATE: Woman killed in collision between car and bin lorry on A140
A woman has died following a serious collision between her car and a bin lorry on the A140 road at Pulham Market earlier today.
The road heading northbound from the Pulham Market roundabout was fully closed after a Ford Ka and a South Norfolk Council lorry crashed around 7.45am, with the car driver later declared dead by emergency services at the scene.
The identity of the woman, believed to have been in her 50s, has not been disclosed.
The man driving the lorry, meanwhile, sustained a serious knee injury as a result of the incident.
The road has since re-opened, with Norfolk police giving the all-clear just after 1pm.
A statement issued by South Norfolk Council reads: “The collision on the A140 involving one of our vehicles is a sudden tragedy for the family of the deceased and we send our condolences.
“It is also a terrible shock for our team members on the refuse round and we are supporting our staff.
“The police are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances and we await the outcome.”
Anybody who has any relevant information about the collision is urged to call Norfolk Constabulary on 101.
