Suspected illegal immigrant discovered in lorry in Eye

A suspected illegal immigrant has been found in a refrigerated lorry in Eye this morning.

Police were called to a business premises in Progress Way at about 10.10am.

A male, thought to be in his late teens, was found in the refrigerated lorry, and taken to West Suffolk Hospital, Bury St Edmunds, suffering with a low temperature, for further checks.

The lorry is believed to have come off a ferry from Belgium.

A spokesperson for Suffolk Police said police were with the male at hospital, while relevant authorities, including the Border Agency, have been informed.

No arrests have been reported at this time.
