Diss Morrisons manager Ross Buck has thrown himself in to a skydive fundraiser for charity

A supermarket’s regional manager has completed a daring skydive to secure funding for a local charity.

Ross Buck, who is people manager at Morrisons in Diss, completed the skydive on Saturday to raise more than £2,000 East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices.

“An email was sent round asking who would be willing to do it, in the hope of getting a representative for each region involved in the skydive – and we had nine of us doing it on the day,” said the 37-year-old.

“I started fundraising for it from the start of May, but you need to be a certain weight to do a skydive, so I also had to go on a diet, and ended up losing three stone from mid-May.

“It was my first skydive and I was a little bit apprehensive but you don’t really have time to be scared because it’s over before you realise it.

“When my feet hit the ground, I was already feeling like I’d happily go back up and do it again.

“I was able to raise £2,060 and the nine of us raised £12,300 combined. There was also a superhero day going on at the store to raise funds , so we’re always looking to give back.”

The jump took place in Kent, with Mr Buck representing the Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex region.

“What an experience,” said Mr Buck.

“I think plans are already being made for next year and they are going to be even bigger and better, so I’m looking forward to being involved in that, too.”
