Diss traffic chaos yesterday after delivery lorry reverses into power cables




Traffic in town was caught up in tailbacks yesterday after a power cable was brought down by a reversing lorry.

The incident happened at around 1.20pm on Victoria Road near the Shell garage, with Police soon arriving on scene to direct traffic.

One lane of the road was closed, with fire services and UK Power Networks attending the downed power cable.

Highways took over handling traffic at 4pm, by which time congestion had become rife in the area.

Nobody was hurt in the incident, and the road was reopened later that evening.
