The RSPCA has revealed that it has responded to 540 incidents concerning hedgehogs since the UK-wide lockdown was imposed.
The charity said it also expects a surge in calls to rescue more hedgehogs now the breeding season has started.
Scientific officer Evie Button said: “We’ll have lots of calls about hedgehogs which have come out of hibernation and need help to build up their body weight.
“These much-loved prickly creatures are the most frequent visitor to our wildlife centres.”
The RSPCA dealt with 381 hedgehog incidents in Norfolk last year and 227 in Suffolk.
