Diss Waveney Rotary Club offer helping hand to support understaffed vaccination centre
A small team of volunteers have stepped into the breach by helping to staff a busy vaccination centre.
Since last Wednesday, around a dozen members of Diss Waveney Rotary Club have been assisting health workers at the Youth and Community Centre in Shelfanger Road, greeting patients and directing them.
Club president Elaine Bootman said they were keen to offer their time to help Hado Pharmacy, which has had to juggle staffing the vaccination centre alongside its Mount Street branch.
“They said it was difficult to run the pharmacy and keep the site going at the same time, and it was beginning to effect the staff at Hado,” she said.
“So we got in touch and we soon had a rota set up, allowing our members to help with some of the basic duties.
“The team at Hado are so appreciative of what we are doing, because I don’t think there has been that many people volunteering.”
