Rainbow of hope at Diss chip shop

A closed fish and chip shop in Diss is still putting smiles on the faces of people, with a rainbow sign that is stuck in its window.

The Fair Green Fish Bar in Denmark Street has had the image in its window for a little while and, though the business closed on March 24, owner Cemal Adiguzel said he still wanted people to see it.

He said: “We wanted to give a message of hope; that is why it includes the encouraging words ‘It’s gonna be alright’.

“We all need positive things on these tough days at the moment and we wanted to cheer up whoever passed by our shop.”

The idea of rainbows in windows, to show solidarity and hope, seems to have started in Italy and has been adopted in the U.S, Canada and Spain, as well as this country.

If others have done this, we would love to hear from you with pictures of you and your rainbows, email kevin.hurst@iliffepublishing.co.uk.
