Railwayana auction pulls in thousands at TW Gaze
Train-enthusiasts steamed through a specialist auction this week that saw hundreds of railway collectibles go under the hammer.
A total of 220 lots were sold at the special railwayana auction at TW Gaze on last Tuesday, with some items fetching more than £8,000.
Visitors put in bids for everything from model locomotives to unique nameplates at the Diss auction house.
Dan Woods, an auctioneer at TW Gaze, said: “It was a really busy room, a good crowd of people with a good atmosphere.
“There was lots of buzzing and a flurry of bids on several items, which was nice to see.
“I have had lots of good feedback from lots of customers and some of the vendors have got in touch to thank us.”
The best selling item, a Royal Tank Regiment nameplate, sold for a staggering £8,500, while a model Flying Scotsman locomotive went for £6,000.
Mr Woods, who also volunteers at Bressingham Steam Museum, added: “It’s the social history of things that makes them so impressive.
“The significance of some of them is amazing.
“It’s amazing the amount of people that have come into contact with the items.
“I’m very lucky that I’m able to mix my work and passion together,” the 34-year-old, from Harleston, added.
The next specialist auction at TW Gaze, in Roydon Road, will take place on September 15, when a collection of radios will go under the hammer.
