Wortwell pub worker saves up her tips and donates them to charity
An employee at a pub has collected up all her tips between September and December and given them away to charity.
Samantha Homewood, who works at the Wortwell Bell in Harleston, posted on social media to thank people for the £100 in tips she had been given during this time.
She said: “Thank you to all who left me tips when drinking and eating between September and December at the Wortwell Bell pub. You didn’t know it, but I saved them up and gave them to an amazing charity, Guide Dogs for the Blind.”
Speaking to Diss Express, Samantha said: "I just want to give a mention to Richard who dedicates his life to training the guide dogs and during these difficult times works hard to promote the charity. When I moved to Wortwell just over 12 months ago Richard and a guide dog called Vinny were the first people I met. My Dad has also worked for the charity many years ago so there’s always been a little bit of a draw towards the Guide Dogs for me."
Patricia Fry, owner of the Wortwell Bell, said: “As a pub, we’ve always supported charities, especially Guide Dogs for the Blind.
“We’re hopeful that we can raise more money for them through events at the pub once we’re able to safely open again, and it’s really nice to see that Samantha has decided to donate her tips to the charity.”
