North Lopham Kings Head pub is getting the village excited and is involved in plans for a fete

The new owners of a village pub are working with the community to resurrect a village fete next month.

The Kings Head in North Lopham is run by Louise and Martin Griffiths, with the new landlady already making plans to put her husband in the stocks as part of the fun.

“It’s such a lovely village, and we need events planned and a village fete for everyone to enjoy,” said the 55-year--old, a former Daniel Robinson and Sons funeral director.

“Our first stallholder was very excited to get involved. Flo Norris is only 12, but she loves crochet and has been crocheting away from the moment we announced the fete.

“We are up to half a dozen stalls already, having only announced the plans last week.

“There will also be a cake stand, barbecue, glitter tattoos, games, hopefully some morris dancers and a set of stocks to put my husband in. He doesn’t mind – he’s up for a bit of fun.”

North Lopham will be ending its four-year fete drought with the event, which is set to take place in the garden area around the Kings Head on September 23, between noon and 4pm.

The publicans hope the showcase will bring the community together, while acting as an opportunity for them to celebrate moving in to the pub.

“It’s mostly about bringing the community together for a day of fun. People here have supported us since we arrived, so it will be nice to organise something to give back to them,” said Mrs Griffiths.

“We’re very much open to ideas for other activities we can include and what people would like to see at the fete, so please do get in touch with us if you have idea, wish to set up a stall or want to volunteer on the day.

“A few people have already said they want to help, which is great, but we would like to have more people involved.

“We haven’t really caught our breath since we arrived, so it will be a nice way for us to relax and just spend the afternoon having fun with the community.”

The Kings Head has recently started opening between noon and 2pm between Tuesday and Friday, alongside it’s 5pm to 11pm opening hours on Monday to Thursday, 5pm to midnight on Fridays, noon to midnight on Saturdays and noon to 10.30pm on Sundays.
